Happy New Year!

There hasn't been much news to post regarding the BRB this past month. Most obvious is some of the prep work in moving utilities, namely power poles fore and aft of the bridge. You've also seen the preliminary work in the eventual intersection of a relocated Amity with Eastside Drive. Couple of interesting slip and slide situations as I traversed Wildwood during the sprinkling of storms, although I did not witness any accidents, thank goodness.

The Funk and Ed Ford are a bit preoccupied with each other, and I presume the pressure from those of us affected by the BRB closing has waned. Squeaky wheel deal.

2010 seems to be the target date for completion of the BRB/Barry Road project...less than two years to go...yea!?

Funny thing happened yesterday, as the ice on WL was melting in our cove, it revealed a "dead soldier" floating on the top of the water. Really wanted to retrieve it for a souvenir, but the north wind pushed the remains south...who knows, it might be at the National right now!

are there underground utilities like gas, water and sewer that are affected by the Barry Road project?

Yes, yes and yes. One of the sticking points with KCMO is the negotiation on relocating two water lines or upgrading to one. Who pays how much is the issue. It is still pending, maybe we will get an update at the next BOA.
